Open Mic Night returns to Palenke Arts!

In collaboration with The Epicenter of Monterey, Palenke Arts is hosting an Open Mic Night, centering youth, people of the global majority and LGBTQ+ community! Featuring Performances by The Poetic Activist (Porsche Veu) & Bianca Zamora. Hosted by Monterey County Poet Laureate Daniel B. Summerhill.

Come share poems, songs & stories! Youth especially encouraged to come!

Bianca Tonantzin Zamora, M.S. (she/her) is the Associate Director for Stanford University's School of Humanities and Sciences. In her role, she serves as the lead strategist for DEI initiatives for H&S staff. Bianca leads national diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops with education, technology, and government organizations. As a proud queer Latina poet and organizer for grass-roots coalitions, Bianca has spoken at Monterey Peninsula Pride, Women's March, Latina Leadership Gala, Sonoma State University Queer Lecture Series, Women's Global Leadership Initiative, University of South Carolina, and LGBTQ+ Latinx Film Festival and was recently recognized as an LGBTQ+ Latinx Honor 41 honoree.

Porsche Veu aka The Poetic Activist is a bold and fiery artist, speaker, facilitator and activist from Oakland, Ca. With a passion for God, DEI, social justice, and mental health, especially among women and the Black community, Porsche aims to bridge the gap between faith & social justice, create brave atmospheres for uncomfortable conversations, and inspire others to find healing & freedom in telling their own stories using motivational speaking, workshop facilitation, poetry and music.
